Wayne "Wags" Wagner
Lung Cancer Survivor
"I feel great! I really lucked out, and I'm enjoying life," says Wayne "Wags" Wagner, who lost two-thirds of his right lung to early-stage lung cancer in January 2007.
Wayne faced the surprising diagnosis with quiet strength, gentle humor and the support of his family, friends and medical team, including internist William Shiffermiller, MD; pulmonologist J. Christopher Shehan, MD; medical oncologist David Silverberg, MD; and cardiothoracic surgeon Tracy Dorheim, MD.
Refusing to let cancer change his approach to life, Wayne remains active and optimistic, focusing on the many joys of retirement following a long and distinguished career in athletic training and sports medicine.
